Iran aid set to bolster Syria’s economy

If it proves true that Iran is extending a line of credit to the Syrian government (and frequent meetings in Damascus are an indication that it is), then the news could have a positive impact on the ailing economy.

The currency crisis, where 1 U.S. dollar equals to 300 Syrian pounds, has been the latest development in a string of economic hardships. However, it is also true that this years agricultural output met its maximum in Syria, which hasn’t been accomplished during the civil war due to drought.

A new line of credit combined with the good news in agriculture could rejuvenate the economy in the interior, on the border of Lebanon where most Syrians live.
